Bistro Paprika

Bistros likely developed out of small kitchens of Parisian apartments where tenants paid for both room and board. Landlords could supplement their income by opening their kitchen to the paying public. Menus were built around foods that were simple, could be prepared in quantity and would keep over time. Wine and coffee were also served. My aim was to recreate that original concept. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Blown away by this little husband and wife run bistro.

I can honestly hand on heart say I had the best meal ever in St Albans at Paprika.

I ordered lobster and prawn ravioli or so I thought. The waiter put the plate down with just 1 ravioli on it which I thought seemed a bit tight… Then he pulled out a teapot and started pouring a bisque soup over the top. Wow… Best soup I’ve ever had.

This was then followed by an extremely well presented lamb dish with beetroot and couscous.

With no room left for cheese and biscuits. Well a little room I then paid up and rolled myself home.

Most definitely shall be returning to this fantastic restaurant.
