Book early to avoid disappointment!
Escorted by a Cathedral Guide you will be led up the great Norman Tower, which is the only English 11th century central Cathedral tower still in its original form. The climb will lead to the North Transept gallery, which provides stunning views of the interior of the Cathedral and a close-up view of the outstanding Rose Window.
Continuing upwards you enter the Crossing, which is around 100 ft (30 m) above floor level, before entering the roof space above the lovely Presbytery Ceiling.
Then back into the Tower to climb up to the Bell Ringing Chamber, where bell ringing will be explained (on some tours it may be possible to see a ringing demonstration), before continuing up to the Belfry to see our 21 bells and the Victorian Carillon.
The final few steps will take you on to the Roof of the Tower (140 ft/ 42 m above ground level) to enjoy extensive views in all directions. En route you will learn about some of the history and structure of this remarkable building.
