To quote Mac MacLaren, MD/Editor of Lemonrock:
‘One of the best bands I have seen live in a very long time: The Bluerays, based in North London.’
When singer/guitarist/harmonica player Chris Hargrave – who has played with Albert Lee, Richie Hayward from Little Feat, Steve Simpson – from Slim Chance, Mealticket and Frankie Miller – contacted former Looters guitarist Steve Pomeroy, The Bluerays were born. Drawing on their collective years of experience touring both home and abroad, a ‘defy you not to get up and dance’ set of Rock ‘n’ Roll / R’n’B and 60’s and 70’s gems has been put together for their high energy live shows. With Brian Diprose joining on bass and the drum stool being warmed by Chris Hunt whose list of credits warrants a page of their own but includes Roger Daltrey, Joe Cocker, Mealticket, The Bruvvers and Lonnie Donegan, you can be sure these guys bring passion, drive and quality to their playing.
The boys (and I use the term loosely) have developed quite a reputation for bringing you great songs that you forgot you knew.
With more than a nod to the glory days of ‘Pub Rock’ you can expect to hear tunes from James Brown, Chuck Berry, The Byrds, Dave Edmunds, The Beatles, The Stones, The Yardbirds, The Zombies, Travelling Wilbury’s, Dave Mason, Neil Young, Frankie Miller, Steve Marriot and The Move to name but a few.
TRIVIA ALERT: The Bluerays are probably the only band on the circuit with two former Leo Sayer drummers in their line up.
