Charlie's Coffee & Company

Charlie’s Coffee and Company was established in 2008 by cheery barista Charlie. Inspired by years of working in cafes and immersing herself in café-culture around the country, she wanted to bring great coffee to the people of St Albans.

From the back of a 3-wheeled Piaggio van, Charlie began serving speciality coffee and bags of morning cheer to the early risers at St Albans station. Eight years on, the coffee van is in the same place, with the same face serving coffee every morning, in all weather conditions, all year round – to commuters and community alike.

In Spring 2014, Charlie’s Coffee Shop opened its doors, bringing more exceptional coffee to St Albans. This independent coffee shop is located in the heart of the London Road neighbourhood, a recently regenerated side of town, just 5 minutes from St Albans City train station.

Charlie’s shop is a friendly and creative space, with a neighbourhood feel. It’s a place where local people come to take time out from their day, to drink good coffee and soak up good vibes.

Charlie is meticulous about sourcing her products and establishing long-term relationships with suppliers, local businesses and local people. You can drink coffee inside, outside, or take it away. You can stock up on the latest coffee equipment and equip yourself with coffee beans roasted by Has Bean Coffee.

Charlie also stocks a superb range of locally pressed juices, loose leaf tea, proper fizzy pop, single origin hot chocolate and a delicious range of artisan baked treats. There are magazines to read, people to watch and conversations to be had.
